Timmy, Jessie, Tim and I celebrated the 4th of July at the Tetons. I had no clue of what was in store. Big surprise for
me. The weather was perfect, besides all the buffalo, elk, deer, moose,
marmots and bears, there was an engagement ring.
The first day we arrived we canoed down the Snake River. We witnessed an Osprey diving down and he caught a fish in its claws. He wanted to show off so he flew right over our heads with his prize.
The next day was a little rainy so we decided to drive to Yellowstone to see
the animals, the waterfalls and geysers. We came across a herd of buffalo charging down the mountain headed for the stream. We were right on the other side and were able to get some good pictures. As they came across, we rushed up to our truck so we wouldn't get trampled.
The third day was the BIG day. We
canoed String Lake (Tetons) and portaged over to Leigh Lake to have a picnic at the bottom
of Mt Moran. The stream that flowed into the lake was quite cold. After doing a couple of push ups in it they swam in Leigh Lake for a bit. The lake was so calm we could see the reflection of the clouds on it and it was breath taking. We returned to String Lake so Tim could show Jess the
famous "Rock", a favorite place of the boys from their
childhood. That is where Timmy popped the question. Tim and I were canoeing around and taking pictures. I had no idea was was going to happen. It was delightful. What a time to remember!!
The next day we took the hike around Jenny Lake up to Hidden Falls. I felt like I was in the Garden of Eden. We saw a lot of animals on this trip. Driving up Signal Mountain to ride our bikes, there were two baby black bears on the road. By the time I whipped out my camera the Mamma bear had rushed them away down the hill. DARN . . but we were able to get a picture from a distance.
Headed to Jackson, we drove through Moose . . and guess what we saw . . 3 MOOSE! They were feeding in the stream.
What a GOOD TIME . . I never get tired of this place. Always something new to see and always beautiful!!!
Ahhh yeah! Best. Trip. Ever.
ReplyDeleteBabs, In response to your question about the trail mix...I think it must be the pin from "The Great Outdoors" birthday party for my son. I do things very simple, as I am not much the 'cook!' Honestly, I can't remember exactly what I put in it, but made it from memory. My uncle used to take my sisters and me camping and he carried a bag for us! I believe this one has a container of mixed nuts, raisins, M&Ms and possibly craisins and/or white chocolate chips. I throw in the container of nuts whatever I have on hand! Good luck! Christie at three pixie lane
